External Service Providers

Externally funded service providers at Niland School.

Niland School, like other NSW public schools, allows externally funded providers (like NDIS therapists) to deliver services on-site if parents request it, but the principal approves it based on student need, safety, and school capacity, requiring formal agreements, provider vetting (insurances, background checks), and adherence to strict Department of Education policies for health, disability, and child protection, ensuring these providers are officially engaged and follow all guidelines.

How it Works at Niland School:

Parent/Carer Request: Parents request approved health, disability, or wellbeing services (e.g., OT, Physio, Speech Therapy, Behaviour Support) for their child at school, often via NDIS funding.

Principal Approval: The School Principal decides if it's appropriate, considering the student's needs, school resources, and duty of care.

Formal Agreement: An "External Provider Engagement Agreement" is signed between the school and the provider, outlining service details, responsibilities, and insurance requirements.

Provider Vetting: Providers must meet strict requirements, including Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, Child-Related Worker Checks, and be part of the Department's approved Specialist Allied Health & Behaviour Support Provider Scheme.

Mandatory Reporting: Approved external providers become mandatory reporters for child protection while on school grounds.
