Providing on going support to both families/carers and students here at Niland School is an integral part of us working in partnership to better the outcomes of our students.
There are a number of support agencies listed on this page that we ourselves, have had working relationships with, and found them to be extremely professional and highly respected in their fields.
We will be sure to add more as Support Agencies to this page as we work in partnership with them.

Mission Australia
Mission Australia Yellow Door is a mental health support program that provides assisitance and referral services for both children and their families in the Blacktown local government area.
Mission Australia's yellow Door project is a targeted early intervention and prevention community care program. It aims to help and support children whose lives are effected by mental health issues and their families and carers, to be accepted and participate in their community.
Yellow Door provides:
- Information
- Counselling
- Education & Support
Their appoach is tailored to the needs of the individual children and their family, providing assistance and referrals to other services. Yellow Door partner with professional services including doctors, psychologists,counsellors,behaviour therapists, principals and teachers.
Participation in the Yellow Door program can be via self-referral, family referral, school recommendation, doctor and other professional providers.
Here at Niland School we welcome the partnership with Mission Australia Yellow Door program and thoroughly support those from our community with their needs within this service.

Disability Services Australia
Disability Services Australia is a registered National Disability Insurances Scheme Provider.
Disability Services Australia (DSA) is a respected not-for-profit organisation that provides essential community support, employment and training services to enhance the lives of people with a disability each year.
DSA is an integral part of more than 50 communities and employs more than 1100 people. They strive to empower people with a disability to make their own decisions and exercise the highest level of self determination with the support of their family and informed community network.
DSA supports in areas such as :

DSA has now began working with our students here at Niland School. They have created a "Self Worth " Program where our students are involved in finding their strengths in life and seeing what other positive attributes other people can see in themselves. It realy is amazing to see a student's face when another student reads something positive about them and sometimes that's all it takes to make them realise they are a special person to us.
We thank the partnership we have with DSA and look forward to many of our families continue to be supported through DSA's Community Connections.
Skills for Kids
Skills for Kids provides occupational therapy and speech language pathology services for children.
Their assessment and intervention is targeted at children who have difficulty with participation either at home, preschool or school.
Their goal is to increase children's independent participation in different parts of their lives.
Dr Su Lowe, director of Skills for Kids and senior occupational therapists, provides additional services including: mentoring to parents and carers,assessment and intervention to adults clients, who experience cognitive strategy use for attention within their workplace or home environment, seminars, conferences.
Dr Su Lowe has also tailored a workshop to suit the needs of the parents of our students here at Niland.
Together they have successfully discussed and formed strategies for:
- six different languages and how it can affect our daily challenges
- anger management for both students/parents and carers
- stress management for both students/parents and carers

Western Area Adolescent Team
Western Area Adolescent Team(WAAT) works with young people aged 12-24years and their significant others. They prioritise in the needs of the marginalised, homeless and "at risk" young people.
The services they also offer are:

- Counselling
- Group Work

This is a convenient point to search so many services offered through Department of Human Services - Centrelink.
It has health care services, social and welfare payments and services, aged care, indigenous support areas, children's disability support , child care benefits and so much more.

Youth Beyond Blue
Depression and anxiety are among the common mental health problems experienced by young people.
